Features such as employee self-service, onboarding, benefits administration, and reporting capabilities have been helpful in streamlining certain HR functions. However, my experience has also been impacted by recurring system limitations, reporting challenges, and difficulties obtaining timely support when issues arise. As an HR/payroll professional, accuracy and efficiency are critical, and there have been instances where payroll reporting, workers’ compensation reporting, and system functionality did not align with our operational needs. Resolving these issues often required significant manual work, multiple follow-ups, and escalation to find solutions. One of the biggest challenges has been the gap between what the system appears capable of doing and what can realistically be customized or supported without additional costs, lengthy timelines, or extensive troubleshooting. For example, when we needed specific reporting solutions to support compliance and workers’ compensation requirements, the available options were limited and the turnaround times did not always meet the urgency of payroll and compliance deadlines. That said, I do appreciate the breadth of services Paylocity provides and the potential the platform has when configured properly.
