Comentarios: NCM is compliance with industry standards. It is PCI, SOX and HIPAA compliance ensures data is secure.

With the current Covid-19 situation, I have been able to make maximum use of the features available in order to monitor our network and ensure business continuity. The reports generated by Firewall features within OPManager Plus are really useful. ManageEngine Support have been very swift in customising reports specific to our needs.
Contras:
With all software, you must spend time initially tweaking to ensure the software works correctly. I found it difficult at times to understand the requirements to get the software to work.

Razones para elegir ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager: I am not familiar with SolarWind, unfortunately I was faced with a brick wall when it came to support. Also cost was factor and I found all the features I need would cost more with SolarWind.
Razones para cambiar a ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager: ManageEngine's ethic in providing support for their customers is superb. I had an engineer onsite to ensure all my requirements are met. Once I became familiar with the product I was able to request customised reports which I ManageEngine Op Manager Plus team were able to provide.
Excellent product that we have been using for at least a decade

Helps to solve a variety of challenges related to managing network device configurations. One major benefit is how it reduces the risk of human error during configuration changes. By providing automated configuration backups, it allows us to quickly roll back to a previous version if a mistake occurs, minimizing downtime and avoiding potential issues.
It’s also really useful for compliance management, ensuring that our devices meet both internal security policies and external regulatory standards.
This helps maintain network security and ensures we stay compliant, which is crucial in our industry.
The ability to track real-time configuration changes is another important feature, as it allows us to detect any unauthorized or unintended modifications immediately. This helps maintain better control over the network and boosts overall security.
Lastly, the system supports a wide variety of devices from different vendors, making it much easier to manage a multi-vendor environment. This saves time and helps keep configurations consistent across the board.
In summary, it's been beneficial in improving network stability, security, and efficiency, making network management more streamlined and less prone to errors.
Puntos a favor:
A range of powerful features for network configuration management. It offers automated backup and restore, ensuring device configurations are safely backed up and can be restored quickly in case of errors or failures. The compliance management feature helps keep devices aligned with both regulatory standards and internal policies, making it easy to detect and fix non-compliance issues. Another standout feature is the ability to track real-time configuration changes, which is critical for identifying unauthorized or accidental changes as they happen. The platform also supports multi-vendor environments, so it works seamlessly with a variety of network devices from different manufacturers. On top of that, role-based access control enhances security by restricting who can make changes, while the user-friendly interface makes it easy for both new and experienced users to operate the system without steep learning curves. All these features combined make it a reliable and efficient solution for managing network configurations across diverse infrastructures.
Contras:
One aspect that could be improved is the user interface. While it’s functional and offers a lot of features, it can sometimes feel cluttered and a bit overwhelming for those who are new to the platform. It takes some time to get familiar with all the options and navigate efficiently. The initial setup can also be quite complex, especially in larger environments with multiple devices. Integrating it into an existing network might require more time and technical know-how than you might expect. Lastly, while the tool supports a wide range of devices, there can occasionally be compatibility issues with less common or newer hardware, requiring more manual configuration or waiting for updates.
ManageEngine NCM - Your one-stop Networking configuration tool
Comentarios: When it comes to PCIDSS compliance, our organization was suffering with configuration backup and auditing. But after proper set of ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager, we were able to comply with all PCIDSS requirements with much ease.
Puntos a favor:
The most loved feature is ManageEngine NCM is multi vendor supported. We do have Cisco, Juniper and HP switches and still we can use Manage Engine NCM to manage all the switches. And it is same with firewalls too. So it is just one solution for all the networking devices of the organization.
Contras:
If the initial setup and configuration can be simplified it will be much better. setup and configuration was not easy as expected. However throughout the initial setup, vendor support was remarkable.
We like NCM
Comentarios: We used NCM as a replacement for Cisco Prime Infrastructure. We have no regrets in moving away from Prime and into NCM, it's been a great tool for us in managing all of our switches and routers.
Puntos a favor:
The user interface is very easy to navigate, it was very easy to get all of our devices into NCM and get them backed up. Writing configlets for common tasks (like an ios upgrade) was very easy.
Contras:
The Compliance module is not the easiest to work with. Some of the features don't work as expected, it was somewhat difficult to get it to run a configlet automatically when it encountered a policy violation. That part never worked very well.

Razones para elegir ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager: Cisco is sunsetting the product, the replacement requires a DNA license to be installed on every device. Those licenses are not available for legacy devices, of which we still have a lot of
Razones para cambiar a ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager: We received a demo of NCM, it was easy to install and configure and start using. The user interface is really nice, access to support from within the product is very easy to access

NCM review
Puntos a favor:
The software is easy to install and offers a user-friendly interface that is simple to navigate. The tool's automation features allow IT teams to save time and reduce errors, as the system can automatically back up configurations, detect changes, and perform configuration changes across multiple devices simultaneously. The tool also offers comprehensive reporting capabilities, enabling IT teams to analyze network activity and identify potential issues quickly. One of the standout features of Network Configuration Manager is its ability to support a wide range of network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. The tool can integrate with many of the industry's leading vendors, including Cisco, Juniper Networks, HP, and Dell, and supports several popular protocols such as SSH, Telnet, and SNMP.
Contras:
I don't have personal preferences or experiences. However, some users have reported that the software's user interface can be overwhelming at times, and it may take some time to get used to all of its features. Additionally, the tool's pricing structure can be a bit complex, and some users may find it challenging to understand the various licensing options available.
NCM Review
Comentarios: Overall the product is very stable and works continuously. We've had a handful of issues, but the support team were great on identifying and resolving issues for us.
Puntos a favor:
We backup all out devices hourly and have emailed change detection enabled, this is key for our global team to understand any changes made clearing showing the before and after changes.
Contras:
We have some Cisco ASA Firewalls with multiple contexts which are only accessible from the mgmt context, so are not able to see each context in NCM. As a workaround, we use configlets to backup all context files by tftp instead. Also it would be great to have the open to change a device template attached to a device, currently if we want to use a different device template, we have to delete and re-add - which also loses all config change history.

Network Configuration Manager is a fantastic addon to Opamanger
Comentarios: Overall, the manageengine tools are fantastic and provide a lot of features for a very reasonable cost. The integration of these ad-hoc tools within some of their larger tools like Opmanger just makes them even better.
Puntos a favor:
Honestly, it nearly set itself up. We obviously had to create some policy customization, but out of the box it was immediately useful by identifying issues with firmware updates, capturing config backups and all sorts of other taks.
Contras:
We had an issue with the config backup on a single switch that even manageengine couldn't immediately help with. It took a few tries to find a tech who could assist. Other than that, it works really well.
