Datadog is the best SAAS alternative for Monitoring

Puntos a favor:
You dont have to manage anything, you just setup your agent and you have monitoring done.
Contras:
Documentation is not public available, i dont understand why.

Datadog is great but expensive
Comentarios: Please reduce the price gap between committed vs on-demand usage, or come up with some other ways to address it. Our on-demand cost varies so much and I get asked by finance way too often.
Puntos a favor:
-Best user experience-Unified view of all metrics. It is a lifesaver when troubleshooting performance issues-A broad range of product offerings
Contras:
-Expensive!-The pricing model isn't as flexible as it should be. You can only adjust your yearly contract 3 times per year.-Expect to spend more time managing costs than you would like.
Endless Sales calls
Puntos a favor:
Nothing. I haven't and won't use them because their Sales team is so hyper aggressive.
Contras:
DataDog got my cell phone number and that's when it all went down hill. For months they've called me — sometimes extremely early in the morning at time zone inappropriate times — to attempt to get our business. Just this morning, they called starting at 8am not once, not twice, but three times in a row each from different numbers. I've asked them to stop. I've begged them to stop. I've spoken with managers. I did so again this morning! But I've lost hope that I'll ever land on a do not call list because I'm convinced they don't have one. The product, frankly, looks good. It's something I'd considered using. But their Sales team is so ridiculously aggressive — who calls someone three or four times in a row from different numbers every five minutes at 8am? — that I will never, ever use them as a vendor. And if you value your sanity, never express even the most vague amount of interest to these folks because apparently they will never stop relentlessly calling you. To say that their Sales team has left a bad taste in my mouth is an understatement.

The gold standard for cloud Monitoring
Comentarios: Before Datadog out logging and monitoring was spread out over different services, both home built and cloud based. With Datadog we were able to consolidate everything in one place and synergy effects of that has been amazing.
Puntos a favor:
If you can afford it. Get Datadog. It's a phenomenal product that keeps getting better every day.Especially if you're using multiple clouds. There are tons of integrations that gives you out of the box dashboards and metrics. Logs are easy to ingest from basically everywhere. It's expensive but the pricing is easy to understand and keep track of.
Contras:
It's expensive, there is no other way to say it. But they work hard to make it worthwhile, and for us it is.Beyond that I can't really think of anything.
Best Monitoring and Observability Tool
Comentarios: Best and good experience with datadog tool.
Puntos a favor:
Experience with Datadog is Best. Using this Tool since 1 year. I worked on many monitoring tool but this is the one best for cloud and infrastructure monitoring. Datadog provides many third party tools integration, we did many integration and monitored many services. we can setup the alerts on our services for let us know before any unusual activity happens. and main thing is we can redirect that alerts to our notification channel and our teams to work on that. We can integrated our frontend and backend applications and we can collect logs also for our application and we can more debug it. They have built in dashboard feature we can manually create dashboards according to our use case. we can also create synthetic scripts and synthetic monitors such as ping for testing our website is available or not or its properly working or not. we can query our data and fetch it accordingly. Talking about AWS and azure services integration, Its totally easy our teams hasn't fetch any issue, its easy as it is. overall experience is good while using this tool best for keep our application and services up to date and running. They have active customer service.
Contras:
Nothing to dislike about Datadog, pricing is quite high but this tool has providing you lot more integration and active customer support so you can raise your query and You will get feedback fast.
The Valuable Data Safety App

The security measure from the program has been well implemented, and it resolves all the data needs.
Contras:
The most efficient data resolving needs are well captured by Datadog.
Good tool for monitoring
Comentarios: Good tool, a bit expensive but worth it.
Puntos a favor:
A complete suite to track and monitor applications
Contras:
Sometimes is complete to track an error and complex integration with some clouds

Monitoring our micro services app with datadog
Comentarios: Use it every day, easy to implement
Puntos a favor:
All in one shop. APM, DB monitoring , synthetic transaction and log analysis
Contras:
APM does not work well on nodejs asyc services. Might be hard to track transactions.
Alternativas consideradas:
Analytics tool which helps customers and users always get the product you want them to get
Comentarios: Overall, having Datadog monitor our apps' performance and customers/users' pain points is invaluable. It's an amazing tool which lets us identify bottlenecks and better serve our users. Although the initial learning curve of utilizing Datadog's plethora of data analytics tools is steep, it's well worth the effort and price as there is much value to the metrics Datadog provides.
Puntos a favor:
Datadog is probably one of the most notable analytics tool out there for large companies. It's easy to track users' flow in terms of what routes they're hitting, when they hit a snag and 404, or other metrics like how performant certain requests are which allows us to identify bottlenecks and get rid of them immediately.
Contras:
There is a steep learning curve I will say with this software and needs an expert to help lead tutorials or sessions to get the ball rolling with new tool users. Although there are many built in functionalities and easily customizable features, it can be overwhelming and hard to pinpoint exactly what type of analytics you're looking for. It's one of those softwares where you have to play around with it to get the stars to align and find a model or metric that works best for your customers and use cases.
Datadog is a great Observability+log analysis tool
Comentarios: It's a great tool for monitoring, alerting, log analysis and synthetics. Good support for small startup companies as well.
Puntos a favor:
Ease of integrataion. Both alerts, metrics and log aggregation in one place. Website Synthetics was very useful too.
Contras:
Data ingestion cost can be too high at times if not controlled in a granular manner.
Datadog Review
Comentarios: Datadog is a top-notch monitoring solution for complex environments, offering rich features and functionality, albeit with a learning curve.
Puntos a favor:
Datadog excels at providing real-time, in-depth insights into application and infrastructure performance, with a user-friendly interface and robust integrations.
Contras:
Initial setup and customization can be overwhelming, and it may be expensive for smaller businesses.
Tried but with hesitation elected to stay on SolarJunk
Comentarios: We tried the product and may reconsider as soon as we can visual an ROI worthwhile
Puntos a favor:
It provided some key insights just missed on an all-in-one package
Contras:
key features like integrated APM and IPAM missing
Datadog
Puntos a favor:
A lot of fun for less money. Great software for monitoring kubernetes infrastructure. Very clear dashboards, monitoring is very intuitive, great to use. Setup is simple and installation of the agent on PC was seamless. Aggregate views into one clear dashboard and monitor all metrics at the same time according to various filters and parameters. Many additional features to enrich the data. User friendly.
Contras:
In the time I have been using it I have not found anything that would not suit me with DataDog I have been very satisfied and it has met my expectations.
Best and excellent cloud-based monitoring and analysis of applications
Comentarios: Overall I love Datadog because of its super enhanced and optimized features ..it's one of the best of it's kind
Puntos a favor:
Using Datadog has been an amazing journey, the feature of providing a unified view of the entire infrastructure of the system making it easier to work on makes it amazing
Contras:
I haven't encountered any deficiency using Datadog
cPanel/WHM Log dashboard
Puntos a favor:
We were up and running in one night. I have minimal dev skills and required my dev to setup with me. Seemed really easy with even the knowledge I had and the free trial made it simple to try.
Contras:
When you initially signup make sure you choose the right server to log into. That should be in BOLD.

Datadog does a lot out of the box
Comentarios: We are using Datadog to monitor and observe over 3000 distinct video streams for outages. It does the job pretty admirably even if I can't tweak the alerts and dashboards as much as I'd like.It is VERY expensive. But it does a lot.
Puntos a favor:
It's pretty easy to get a lot out of Datadog right out of the box -- the AWS and other integrations are amazing and easy to use.
Contras:
It's REALLY expensive. It's not so easy to really really tweak the dashboarding and alerts to do more advanced mathematics or analysis.
best monitoring tool on the market
Puntos a favor:
I like Datadog APM which help our developer to troubleshoot various deep level issues.
Contras:
probably the integration with log management with DD trace with APM, as we have some difficulties link the log injested with trace ID etc but some of logs are not linked with APM. I hope there's a better compatibilities with custom PHP application with APM & Log management
Monitoring for senior developers / platform people
Comentarios: We use it as a primary monitoring system. I'm a senior developer in charge of my team and I use it a lot. Dashboards are used daily in order to monitor what's happening, usually when deploying new features or changing some endpoints. We can trace the improvements we do by measuring response time, amount of errors, etc. I, as team lead, also use notebooks a lot to elaborate the QBR (quality business review) each quarter. I can create custom reports easily using the custom metrics we have configured across all the microservices. In comparison with New Relic, from my personal experience, Datadog is much better.
Puntos a favor:
Dashboards. Custom metrics. Ruby integration. Notebooks. Monitors & alerts.
Contras:
It takes time to understand each part and understand how to use it. It's a complex thing and if you're not familiar with monitoring systems it could be difficult to figure it out how you can find what you need.

Observability super powers
Puntos a favor:
Being able to funnel AWS CloudWatch logs into Datadog made speed of deployment of Datadog incredibly fast - days instead of weeks. The log searching and faceting are extremely powerful. It's responsive, everything loads fast, and I can find single log lines in seconds.
Contras:
Being able to create facets on historical data would be great. When digging into log lines, being able to navigate back to previous lines that we read through would be great too. Sometimes we're clicking around so fast that a log line is long gone. I end up copying the URL and pasting it into a doc so I can refer back to it.
maintain observability with Datadog
Puntos a favor:
Ease of use and flexibility. Beginning teams can leverage out of the box but you can grow into this product as it is quite feature rich. The product just works.
Contras:
It is so expensive that we consistently have to trim usage when not needed. Also due to this we have to justify the product constantly
